The Belmayne Foundation launched in a blaze of glory in 2019, raising £10,000 for our chosen charities, 80% of which came from our inaugural charity ball. Three months into year two, Covid happened.
The pandemic has had lasting and far-reaching consequences for many, not least charities, who have had to adapt the way in which they fundraise to survive. Consequently, there has been no Belmayne ball for the last two years, but I’m pleased to say it will be making a comeback in May 2022 and we invite you all to join us.
Fundraising pandemic style
We took the decision at the beginning of this year to continue to support the four charities we had selected for 2020, as fundraising opportunities were so limited. They are: FareShare Yorkshire, Pathways of Chesterfield, Nenna Kind (now part of Weston Park Hospital) and Helen’s Trust.
With no ball to organise, my colleagues and I hit the roads, footpaths and trails, taking on a number of sponsored sporting challenges to raise funds, including the Round Sheffield Run, Yorkshire Three Peaks and Five Dales Sportive. Blood, sweat and tears were shed, but we were very glad to be out and about again and great fun was had.
We would like to thank everyone who gave so generously to these events and helped us raise another £10,000 this year, which will be shared equally between the four charities detailed above. An initial £6,000 has already been distributed and we will be handing over the balance in the coming weeks.
Looking forward to 2022
With some sense of normality (hopefully!) returning to life next year, we have three new charities confirmed so far and aim to make this four by January. They are:
- Sight Support Derbyshire
- Derbyshire Asbestos Support Team
- Sheffield Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus
Preparations for our ball, which will be held at the Crowne Plaza Royal Victoria on May 14, are now well underway and tickets can be purchased through the following link: https://www.jumblebee.co.uk/thebelmaynefoundationcharityball14thmay2022 They cost £50 per head and include a three-course meal and bottle of wine per couple. If you would like to reserve a table of ten, please contact us direct.
The aim of our foundation is to share 100% of the money we raise with our charities, so my partners and I will be fully funding the event. After a two-year break, we are keen to make this year’s ball even more successful than our first attempt and we hope you will dust off your dinner jackets and dresses and join us for the night.
To everyone who has contributed to our fundraising this year and last, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
