Summer of Sunflowers Returns!
In total 17 nurseries and more than 1,000 children from around North Derbyshire took part in our second Summer of Sunflowers competition. The winning entry measured a whopping 9ft 1in and was grown by Treasures Neighbourhood Nursery in Staveley.
Our 2024 Summer of Sunflowers competition raised £1,250 for the Belmayne Foundation, thanks to corporate donations.
We had a fantastic response from nurseries across the area and we were so impressed by all of the fabulous flowers they grew!
As winners, Treasures received a visit from a children’s entertainer, courtesy of Belmayne. Gardening sets, donated by Ferndale Garden Centre in Coal Aston, were also presented to the top three entries.
All of the money raised through the initiative was shared equally between our 2024 chosen charities, Derbyshire Carers Association and Edale Mountain Rescue.
